About Bristol
Bristol is a city steeped in history, best known for its iconic suspension bridge, thriving music scene and flourishing street art culture. The medieval town was incorporated in 1155. The city straddles the River Avon in the southwest of England with a prosperous maritime history. Its former city-centre port is now a cultural hub, the Harbourside, where the M Shed museum explores local social and industrial heritage. The harbour's 19th-century warehouses now contain restaurants, shops and cultural institutions such as the contemporary art gallery The Arnolfini.
Ribena was invented in Bristol at the National Fruit and Cider institute and marketed as a health drink due to its high concentration of Vitamin C.
BBC Bristol produces a whopping 25% of all the world's nature documentaries - many of them featuring the legendary Sir David Attenborough.
Bristol was been named as Europe's trendiest city in the National Geographic Traveller UK's Cool List, which set out the world's ultimate 18 must-see destinations for 2018. Bristol was also the only British destination at all to make the list.
