Typically, an Email Marketing Manager would be responsible for the planning and development of the email marketing communication strategy with the aim of building customer loyalty, driving interaction and engagement. Experience in using an email distribution tool such as Mailchimp, Dotdigital, or an equivalent tool would be essential in this role, as well as database management, data segmentation, A/B split testing combined with an understanding of integrated marketing activity and inbound digital marketing activity.
Depending on size and type of company this role could be a stand-alone sitting with the wider digital/marketing team and responsible for strategy as well as the creation and distribution of activity or, work with an Email Marketing Executive to support the distribution of creation of content.
This type of position would be suited to someone already working within an email marketing role and looking for their next step or, someone working in a broader digital marketing role but with specific experience in email marketing and looking to specialise.
As an Email Marketing Manager, the role would usually encompass the following responsibilities
  • Mapping the customer journey and managing email campaign activity
  • Designing and managing A/B testing and email content
  • Building and managing customer database, improving segmentation and targeting
  • Reporting and analysis of key KPIs to measure campaign success and inform future campaigns
  • Experience with an Email Marketing platform (Mailchimp and dotdigital)
  • A user of Google analytics with the ability to interpret data
  • Working with the wider marketing team on integrated campaign activity
