Typically, as a PR Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, running integrated campaigns across traditional, digital and social platforms as well as creating content and creative ideas. You will be client-facing, meeting with your client and developing a strategy and working with your team to deliver. You will be strategic and will often work with the PR Account Director to develop strategy and will keep in touch with your client. You will be hands-on in creating content across press releases, articles, blogs and thought leadership, managing social media platforms for your clients and selling into the media. You will also be responsible for planning and delivering events for your client, managing press days, and you will be responsible for crisis communications for your client and be ready to respond in the very best way. ​
As PR Account Manager you will likely report into a PR Account Director and may also have some direct reports at PR Account Executive or Senior PR Account Executive level. You will be responsible for coaching and mentoring your junior team and overseeing the content they are creating.​
As PR Account Manager you will have the following responsibilities:​
  • Get close to all relevant client market tracking data, trends, relevant category and competitor news to gain a deep understanding of the broader strategic issues that face them in terms of industry trends and competitor activity
  • Ensure smooth communication flow between the client in terms of meeting deadlines and delivering top quality written and verbal material
  • Ensure in-depth knowledge of the current media landscape and relevance for client brands and campaigns
  • Draft, gain approval for and, issue press releases and feature information for all key launches and initiatives
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of how media ideas can be translated across digital and social media channels
  • Align relevant platform knowledge to campaign strategies to meet client objectives
  • Regularly review client’s coverage to spot potential gaps in media support and address accordingly
  • Meet regularly with key media in order to build relationships, maintain an in-depth knowledge of their brand and talk through potential new opportunities
  • Manages all media and client projects efficiently and to the highest standards, meeting all required deadlines
  • Managing budgets and reporting back
