Typically, a Senior Account Executive would typically have gained up to 2 years’ experience working in a client service position, within an agency or in-house studio environment. At this position they may be expected to work across a number of accounts, independently managing multiple client briefs end to end as, well as providing daily support to the account management team. The role includes day-to-day client liaison, project management of briefs through the studio team, budget management, status reporting and file organisation.​
After gaining vital industry experience, a Senior Account Executive may also be expected to add creative and strategic input where appropriate as well as issue identification and problem solving throughout the project lifecycle. ​
The typical attributes required for a Senior Account Executive would be a candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; someone who is exceptionally organised and has a keen passion for creativity, marketing or advertising. An SAE will also be required to be proficient in Microsoft and IT packages.​
A Senior Account Executive role will usually involve the following responsibilities:​
  • Meet and liaise with clients to discuss and identify their requirements (along with senior members of the team)
  • Bring together agency colleagues to devise a campaign strategy, a plan that meets the client's brief and budget
  • Present (alongside agency colleagues) the campaign ideas and budget to the client
  • Brief creative, digital, film or research staff and assist with the formulation of marketing strategies
  • Manage project/campaigns life-cycles of varying size, inclusive of iterations, schedules, status updates and all communication to the client
  • Handle budgets, manage campaign costs and invoice clients
  • Undertake administrative tasks
  • Create pitch presentations, along with other agency staff, with the aim of securing new business for the agency
