Typically, a Social Media Manager would be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of the social media strategy across a variety of social media channels, both organic and paid. The aim main purpose of this role is brand awareness, digital acquisition and driving inbound traffic. As well as channel experience, this role would also need to be familiar with reporting and analysis, monitoring key KPIs and conversion tracking. An awareness of scheduling tools such as HubSpot could also be advantageous.
This role would usually sit within the digital marketing/communications team and could be a standalone role or have support from a Social Media Executive and direct line management responsibilities.
The role of Social Media Manager would be suitable for someone who is already in a social media role looking to take their next step, or someone in a communication or generalist digital marketing role with a specific interest and experience in social media.
As a Social Media Manager, the role would often encompass the following responsibilities:
  • Creating and developing channel specific Social Media strategies and communication plan
  • Analysing and reporting performance of activity and making recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Understand how social media works with, and complements the wider integrated marketing strategy
  • Management of social media campaigns through all channels
  • Experience of Facebook Business Manager and conversion tracking
