This creative agency, in the heart of Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, has a fantastic heritage, working with leading UK brands across both the B2C and B2B markets, they focus on delivering excellent experiences, developing digital solutions and content for these brands, and are now looking for an experienced Front End Developer with experience in writing code across PHP, JavaScript, WordPress and WooCommerce to join their busy and growing creative and digital team. As the agency is based in central Leamington, they are commutable from Warwick, Birmingham, Stratford upon Avon, Coventry, Nuneaton, Solihull, and Rugby.

The Role

You will be working alongside their creative and digital agile team, as well as working with outsourced agencies on larger projects, most of which are mobile first web development projects. You will participate in team meetings, giving your thoughts and ideas and helping to shape the overall outcome of each project.

You will own projects and be someone who can work across multiple projects, thinking on your feet, and whilst you will be given support on larger projects, you can work under your own steam on the more day-to-day tasks which could include translating designs into clean, consistent code while developing and maintaining existing websites.

With your expertise as a Full Stack Front End Developer, you specialise in WordPress and WooCommerce, and you will be familiar with creating custom functions and hooks, building themes from scratch, and writing bespoke code.

You will also help to develop exciting new features and products and be instrumental to the team, who are very open to new ways or working, or new technologies that will enhance their offering to clients and the way that they work.

The agency works on a range of projects from creating new products for their clients, designing temporary microsites, developing and maintaining long-term e-commerce sites, to brand-led campaigns so there is a great amount of variety to this role.

This a role that you can make your own. There is planned growth in this position and team, and if you are passionate about self-development and implementing new technologies, then this is an excellent opportunity to progress and grow with the agency.

The key responsibilities for this role:

  • You will have a keen eye for detail, both technical and visual

  • You have experience writing excellent HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP

  • Ability to utilise relevant development libraries where required (Bootstrap, Angular, React)

  • Responsible for your own version control and code base management

  • You have in-depth WordPress knowledge and experience

  • Experience with WooCommerce and WooCommerce plugins

  • Ideally, you will have a good understanding of UX and its relationship to interaction

  • Ability to understand/edit and write PHP logic and custom functions

Whilst coding is a core responsibility in this role, they are keen that this person can push design and UX where relevant

About You

You have honed your craft as a Front-End Developer, ideally within a creative agency or an internal agency where you are able to work at pace and work collaboratively.

You will be involved with sessions with senior members of the team to define the scope of the brief, where you can give your ideas and opinions freely. You will also, on occasion, collaborate with their external support team on larger projects, but you will take ownership of product development, all within an agile way.

You are someone with the ambition to continue learning and growing within your role and have the ability to vocalise your thoughts to the team on perhaps new ways or better ways of doing projects. They are a lively team who like to engage and thrash out briefs together (via virtual meetings), so it is important that you have good communication skills to engage with the team on briefs and ways of working, and are not scared to voice your opinion and know that it will be heard.

If you are interested in learning more about this role, please send in your CV as well as some links or case studies where you have used your expertise to deliver against challenging briefs.
