Are you a PHP Developer or Full Stack Developer looking for your next opportunity in a brilliant agency based in Birmingham? Our client is looking for a keen and passionate developer who has a can-do positive attitude to join their growing team. You will play a key part in the development and maintenance of existing systems and applications along with general day-to-day technical operations and support. The role requires someone with a solid foundation in developing web applications and websites along with the ability to manage and develop new/existing projects. This role would suit a mid/senior-level Developer looking to join a small team or a junior-level Developer looking to take the next step in their career. You will be looking to join a growing and highly successful agency that really are one of their kind in the Midlands. This is a permanent full-time role, with flexibility and a competitive salary.

This role is based in Birmingham and commutable via Solihull, Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Stafford, Warwick, Leamington, Coventry to name a few. Our client is also open to some flexible working so if you are a little further afield then still get in touch as they offer a blended approach to office and home working.

The Role

You will have the ability to switch between backend/frontend development with ease and also be able to develop features quickly. Solutions-driven and with an eye for detail, you will be a natural self-starter with a genuine passion for writing code.

Your day to day activities will include:

  • Web Application development including maintenance

  • API development and integrations

  • General ad hoc technical support

  • Developing new features for existing systems

  • Maintaining, modifying and improving existing codebases

  • Ideas generation and project scoping

  • Technical design and documentation

About You

  • Minimum 1-2 years practical experience which will need to be demonstrated

  • PHP and a solid understanding of MVC frameworks

  • MySQL

  • Frontend skills using HTML, CSS and JavaScript

  • Experience extending and theming CMS's such as WordPress

  • Version Control using Git

  • Some exposure to Linux servers and basic CLI

Any practical experience of the following would be a distinct advantage:

  • CakePHP (v2 and/or v3/v4)

  • Javascript frameworks/libraries such as React/Vue/Angular etc

  • CSS Frameworks such as SASS/LESS

  • Mobile App development

You should enjoy a varied workload and not mind being a bit of an 'all-rounder' with a proactive approach to developing the best solutions. You should also be flexible in order to work and liaise with some of their international offices where required. In addition to this, you will need to have excellent communication skills, be collaborative and naturally super organised.
