Leicester is probably best known for its historical treasures, and most recently in 2012, the remains of King Richard III being found in a car park! The site is now a visitors’ centre where visitors can learn the story of the King’s life and death and see the archaeological site where his remains were found.

Nelson Mandela Park, Belgrave Hall and the Great Central Railway are among the various tourist attractions that keep the city busy all year round.

Beaumont Shopping Centre, Leicester Market and St Martin's Square provide a plethora of retail options, hosting everything from high street goods to handmade crafts and homemade foods.

​

Leicester is the home to Leicester City Football club at the King Power Stadium. The club rose to fame after their spectacular Premier League win in 2015–16; their first top-level football championship.

​

The city also has two universities, De Montfort University and the University of Leicester, situated only less than a mile in walking distance apart.
