​About the West Midlands

​

The West Midlands is the second most populated county in England with a population of 2,808,356.

​

It is formed from parts of Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Warwickshire and came into existence after the passage of the Local Government Act 1972.

​

The county consists of seven metropolitan boroughs: The City of Birmingham, the City of Coventry, and the City of Wolverhampton, as well as Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, and Walsall.

It also has historical ties to the automotive industry with the luxury car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover being one of the region’s largest employers.
