Marketing Manager
This is a 12-month FTC based in Durham, Northeast England, covering a maternity leave within the marketing team for a trusted, industry-leading wholesale retailer. They are looking for an experienced Marketing Manager who can take ownership of integrated marketing campaigns from strategy through to execution, with ownership of a number of categories as well as working with other Marketing Managers across brand, digital, creative and communications, to shape and develop the marketing plans and how this heritage brand connects with its customers. Starting in October/November, this role is a full-time, hybrid role, based in Durham (North East England), with 3-4 days per week onsite and the remainder working from home.

Our client is a UK leading wholesaler/retailer, with hundreds of physical branches across the UK and a strong online and E-Com presence. They are family owned and their heritage spans over 70 years, they are trusted by contractors and tradespeople who rely on them every day.
This company have a number of exciting projects planned within the next 12 months, from a big Live Event to a rebrand, you will be involved in a number of key projects and work with many stakeholders to bring them to life.
You will be part of the UK Marketing team, working across Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing and Brand. It's a collaborative and forward-thinking environment where marketing is seen as a key driver of commercial growth, rather than simply a support function.
The Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Marketing Manager who can successfully look after this role for 12/13 months to cover a maternity leave within the team, ensuring a good handover with the current Marketing Manager. You are used to taking ownership of integrated marketing campaigns from initial proposition and strategy through to creative delivery, activation and performance analysis.
It would suit someone who enjoys having ownership of their work and is comfortable moving between being strategic and hands-on delivery. You'll be expected to understand the customer, identify the opportunity, build the plan and then make sure everything gets delivered effectively and on time.
You'll work closely with Creative Design, Digital Marketing, Internal Communications, Commercial and other key teams, as well as external agencies, to ensure campaigns are joined up, commercially focused and deliver real impact.
Responsibilities for the role include:
- Campaign & Brand Marketing: Lead end-to-end campaign planning and execution across customer touchpoints, from proposition development and content strategy through to creative delivery and performance analysis
- Integrated Campaigns: Develop and deliver marketing plans across owned, earned and paid channels, ensuring campaigns are joined up and consistent across the customer journey
- Customer Insight: Use customer data, campaign results, reviews and other insight to understand audiences, inform marketing activity and continually improve performance
- Marketing Communications: Own the marketing calendar and campaign plans, coordinating timings, creative assets, approvals and activation to ensure everything is delivered on time
- Brand Consistency: Work across Brand, Creative, Digital and Internal Communications to ensure customers and colleagues receive a consistent and compelling brand story
- Internal Engagement: Help bring campaigns to life across the wider business, working with internal teams and branches to build engagement and amplify marketing activity
- Channel Performance: Oversee campaign execution across channels including SEO, PPC, email, website and paid social, ensuring activity is tailored to different customer segments
- Commercial Performance: Set clear KPIs and use data to monitor clicks, traffic, conversion, revenue and ROI, identifying opportunities to optimise performance and improve cost efficiency
- Test & Learn: Monitor channel performance, attribution and competitor activity to identify opportunities, test new approaches and drive continual improvement
- Agency Management: Manage external agencies and partners, ensuring they understand the objectives, deliver against expectations and operate as an extension of the internal team
- Reporting & Insights: Develop clear reporting across commercial and marketing KPIs, using data to provide actionable insight and recommendations
- Ways of Working: Continuously improve marketing processes, workflows and ways of working, identifying gaps, removing blockers and making delivery more effective
Your Experience
You have around 4-7+ years' experience within a marketing role, with experience managing integrated campaigns from strategy through to execution. Experience within retail or B2B is advantageous.
You're commercially-minded and understand how marketing activity connects to wider business objectives. You enjoy getting into the detail, but can also step back and see the bigger picture.
You are a confident communicator who can build relationships with stakeholders at all levels, whether that is face to face, written or verbal.
You're confident working across multiple channels and stakeholders and can bring together creative, digital and commercial teams to deliver campaigns that are both engaging and effective.
You have experience across:
- Integrated Marketing Experience: Proven experience planning and delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns across owned, paid and earned channels
- Campaign Management: Strong end-to-end campaign management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, budgets and stakeholders
- Commercial Mindset: Understanding of how marketing drives traffic, engagement, conversion and revenue, with experience working against measurable KPIs
- Data & Analytics: Comfortable using data and campaign performance to make decisions, identify opportunities and optimise marketing activity
- Digital Marketing Knowledge: Good understanding of channels such as SEO, PPC, email, websites and paid social, with the ability to work effectively with digital specialists
- Customer Insight: Naturally curious about customers and confident using data and insight to influence proposition, messaging and campaign strategy
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across creative, digital, commercial and wider business teams
- Agency Management: Experience managing external agencies or partners and ensuring they deliver against agreed objectives
- Project Management: Highly organised, proactive and able to keep multiple moving parts on track in a fast-paced environment
