Senior Business Development Manager

Not every Business Development role gives you the opportunity to build a department. This one does.

BTB is partnering with a long-established international exhibition and experiential design agency that's entering an exciting new phase of growth. Following a recent restructure, they're looking for a commercially-driven Business Development professional who can do more than simply hit a sales target. They're looking for someone who wants to influence strategy, shape the future of the commercial function and, over time, build a team around them.

If you're happiest opening doors, building relationships and winning high-value projects rather than managing existing accounts, this could be exactly what you've been waiting for.

What you'll be doing

This is genuine consultative new business. You'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, engaging senior decision-makers and developing long-term partnerships with businesses exhibiting across the UK and internationally. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing new business opportunities through proactive outreach and networking
  • Building relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple industries
  • Attending UK and overseas exhibitions to generate new opportunities
  • Managing opportunities from first conversation through to commercial agreement
  • Working alongside Directors on pitches and proposals
  • Building and maintaining a healthy sales pipeline through CRM
  • Becoming a key commercial figure within a growing business

This isn't a transactional sales role. Projects are bespoke, relationships are long-term and the sales cycle is genuinely consultative.

Our client has spent more than 35 years designing and delivering premium exhibition environments for global organisations across sectors including aerospace, defence, engineering, pharmaceutical and industrial technology. They've built an outstanding reputation for quality, creativity and service, delivering projects throughout Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia.

You'll probably come from one of the following backgrounds:

  • Exhibition Design & Build
  • Experiential Marketing
  • Live Events
  • Creative Agency New Business
  • Marketing Services
  • Consultative B2B Sales

More important than sector experience, however, is your approach. We're looking for someone who:

  • Loves winning new business
  • Builds genuine relationships
  • Is naturally curious and commercially-minded
  • Enjoys networking and meeting senior decision-makers
  • Is disciplined enough to build and nurture a structured pipeline
  • Wants autonomy rather than micromanagement

  • £40,000-£60,000 basic (Senior BDM or BDM)
